Re: No chill brewing

I brew using 50l stainless steel kwaitoew pots (only about half full) and before pouting my brew into a fermenting container, I put the pot in a stainless steel basin and empty five bags of ice into the basin. Within half an hour, the temperature of the liquid in the pot and the basin is tepid. So m...

Re: Bangkok post article on local brewers

And it's those macro brewers who are the root cause of the problem. David 1963 I'm not so sure that's true. Have a friend at Singha....all they care about is Chang. Even Heineken and Asahi might as well be home brews. From a macro-brew standpoint, let all these little guys battle it out amongst the...

Re: Using Whirlfloc in other brews

I spoke with my cider brewing friend. He uses the lek 11 website to buy bentonite. He also said that you need to degas the cider and wine regularly as the fermentation nears completion. I guess particles won't drop out as long as co2 remains in the liquid during fermentation. He said he just carefu...

Re: Using Whirlfloc in other brews

The liquid does not get heated at any stage of production/fermentation. Having said that, a quick Google search reveals bentonite is used to clarify beer, cider and wine, so thank you. The next question is: where can I obtain the stuff in Bangkok?

Using Whirlfloc in other brews

I'm thinking of making some more cider, and possibly some wine. In both cases I would extract the juice from fresh fruit, and this means the liquid I'm trying to ferment is very cloudy and has a lot of sediment. I know Whirlfloc is supposed to be added to boiling wort to remove sediment in beer, but...

Re: Brewing with high temperature Belgian yeast

I've used Mangrove Jack's Belgian yeast and I've been happy with the results. It's the best yeast I've used for brewing. I use a modified fridge to keep temperatures around 20C.

Judging from the amount of money they've raised so far, no one seems to want their name tattooed on the bar owner's butt.
